Margaret Kathryn Senne
June 20, 1916 — July 11, 2014
Margaret Kathryn Senne, 98, of Topeka, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, after a long and fulfilling life.
She was born June 20, 1916, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Herbert and Margaret (Rowles) Miller. Her father died when she was a baby, and she and her mother moved to California. At the age of eight years, she came to Topeka, KS, and lived with her half-sister and her husband, Mary & Jim Hesse.
Margaret was a 1934 graduate of Capital Catholic High School and graduated from Clark's School of Business. She married her childhood sweetheart, Harry G. Senne on June 9, 1937. They celebrated 66 years of marriage. Harry died April 4, 2003. During the 1950's and 1960's Legislative Session, she was a secretary to several different senators. Margaret and Harry were the owners of Senne's Old Stable Antiques. They volunteered at Ward-Mead Park and at Brewster Place, where they later lived.
She was an avid golfer. Margaret was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Topeka.
Survivors include son, Scott Senne, and daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Ted Hischke. Grandchildren, Dana (Brian) Byers, Amy (Chris) Birch, Paul (Rania) Senne, Martin Hischke, Aaron (Jessica) Senne, ten great-grandchildren, and special friend, Mary Edmonds.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at Mount Hope Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, Topeka. Entombment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel.
Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka, is assisting the family.
