Margaret Joan Nesbit, 75, died quietly Sunday, February, 29 while sleeping at her home in Topeka, KS where she had lived since 1974.
Mrs. Nesbit was born in Tulsa, OK on March 3, 1928; the daughter of Fred G. Manners Sr. and Maude Margaret Manners (Corp). She graduated in 1946 from Garnett High School and earned a degree in Journalism from the University of Kansas in 1950. She married Mark P. Nesbit on October 12, 1950 in Garnett, KS.
Joan was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Topeka and the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Nesbit is preceded in death by her husband Mark and her brother William A. Manners. She is survived by her daughter Julie A. DeLong, Topeka; three sons Phillip F. Nesbit, Warrenville, IL, Terry L. Nesbit, Valley Center KS, and William M. Nesbit, Topeka; nine grandchildren; and her brother Fred G. Manners Jr., Tulsa, OK.
Services will be at 10:30 Friday, March 5 in the Klasse Chapel of the First United Methodist Church, Topeka. Graveside services will be at 2:30 at the Patton Cemetery north of Westphalia, Kansas.
Mrs. Nesbit will lie in state after 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 4 at Penwell-Gable Midtown Chapel where the family will greet friends from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
