Margaret Alaire Gordon, 89, Topeka, was released to the angels December 29, 2013. Alaire was born March 15, 1924 in Hamilton, Bermuda to Victor and Annette Burgess.
She met and married her former husband, William C. Gordon, then a member of the U.S. Air Force, in Bermuda in 1949. She then began her lifelong devotion to raising and caring for her family.
She was an office manager for Schendel Pest Control retiring in 1989. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
She is survived by a sister, Jean Stewart, Anthony, NM; her former husband, William C. Gordon, Atlanta, GA; children, Richard (Shirley) Gordon, Mineola, TX, Marjory Bauer, Topeka, Andrew (Marsha) Gordon, Springfield, IL, William (Lorraine) Gordon, Monmouth, OR, Victoria Gordon, Seattle, WA, Alaire (Brenden) Long, Topeka, Allyson (Scott) Estes, Atlanta, GA; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Burgess; sister, Celia Meau; son-in-law, Frank Bauer; granddaughter, Olivia Estes; and great-grandson, Atreyu Gordon.
Her never-ending love, grace and strength of character are enduring gifts to her family.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Town & Country Christian Church and private family inurnment will be in Bermuda.
