Margaret Carlson
Margaret "Muggs" Carlson, 76, Topeka, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 12, 1932 in Sauk Centre, MN. She was adopted by Lloyd and Gladys Iverson and was raised in Litchfield, MN. She graduated from Litchfield High School and attended St. Cloud State College.
She married her high school sweetheart, Les Carlson, on June 23, 1951 in Litchfield. They lived in Clarksdale and Biloxi, MS; San Antonio, TX; Warner Robbins, GA; Fairmont and Crystal, MN before moving to Topeka in 1969.
Muggs was a homemaker and was active in Jazzersize and Chapter DF of the PEO Sisterhood. She volunteered for many years at Stormont-Vail Hospital, and at the Kansas Museum of History. She was also a very active member of Countryside United Methodist Church.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband of 56 years, Les; children, Mark and Leann Carlson and Jack and Gail Carlson, all of Topeka, Joel Carlson of Apopka, FL; grandchildren, Leslie and Rob Carlson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Herald and Ginny Carlson and Arnold and Jean Carlson; a very close sisterlike cousin, Marlene Kramer, and a several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday at Countryside United Methodist Church with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Muggs will lie in state after noon Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 4-6 pm Sunday.
