Margaret Jane Thompson Armfield, 95, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
She was born February 29, 1924, in Melvern, Kansas, the daughter of Harry and Mabel (Flickenger) Thompson. She graduated from Lyndon High School.
Margaret married James E. Armfield on May 12, 1956 at First Church of the Nazarene, in Glendale CA.
Margaret worked as a clerk and typist at Winter General VA for 8 years.
She was a member of the Topeka First Church of the Nazarene and loved the Lord with all her heart. Margaret was an avid bird watcher and she loved to paint. She was famous for her homemade pizza.
Survivors include her sons, James G. (Wanda) Armfield, Duane L. (Sydney) Armfield; grandchildren, Joshua (Elisabeth) Armfield, Rebecca (Rob) Santel, Jordan Armfield, Sam (Courtney) Armfield, Sara (Gabe) Nehrbass, Lydia Armfield; two great-grandchildren, RaeAnn, Ruth; and sister, Lorraine Kramer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; son, Daryl Armfield; brother, Harry E. Thompson and sister, Carol Fox.
Family will greet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Penwell-Gabel, 1321 SW 10th Ave Topeka, KS. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Monday, June 3, 2019,at First Church of the Nazarene, 1001 SW Buchanan, Topeka, KS 66604. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka, KS.
