Marcia G. Rothmier, passed away on March 18, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on December 17, 1935 to Dale and Mildred (Brown) Patterson in Topeka, KS. She graduated from Washburn Rural High School and later attended the Clark's School of Business.
She married Frank Rothmier on July 9, 1960 in Topeka, KS.
Marcia dedicated over 20 years of civil service working for the Air Force and Coast Guard Pay and Personnel in Topeka, roles that exemplified her strong work ethic and commitment to serving her community. Beyond her career, she was actively involved in various organizations that showcased her spirit of volunteerism and friendship. As a dedicated member of the Women's Club of Topeka and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, she remained engaged and connected with those around her. Her faith was a guiding pillar in her life, as she found comfort and community at Christ the King Catholic Church, where she was a cherished member.
She had a special love for Jazz music and attended many Topeka Jazz Workshop concerts. Besides her love for jazz music, she also loved attending theater shows. She often attended the Topeka Civic Theater. She also would venture to Kansas City where she would attend theater productions with family and friends. Marcia enjoyed traveling with friends and loved her trip to Europe with her husband, Frank and family, Anna Lee and Leland. She loved to play bridge at the Women's Club. Marcia had an extensive collection of beautiful glassware. She enjoyed many years of camping at Lake Pomona with family.
Family was at the heart of Marcia's life. She leaves behind her sons, Kevin (Greg Pollock) Rothmier and Mark (Lea Ann) Rothmier, who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Her grandchildren, Eric (Ashley) Rothmier, Shelby (Matt) Barkofske, and Ashley Rothmier, were the lights of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Marcia's heart was full of love for her family, and they brought her immense joy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank in 1995 and her parents, Dale and Mildred Patterson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Monday, March 24, 2025 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Her family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka, KS. In her honor, memorial contributions can be made to the Topeka Jazz Workshop, PO Box 452, Topeka, KS 66604.
