Madge Smith, 86, of Topeka, formerly of Wichita, KS, passed away Friday, January 27, 2006 at her home.
Madge was born May 22, 1919 in Wichita, daughter of Harley and Lou Caster Furnish. Raised in Wichita, she graduated from North High School in 1936.
She was united in marriage to L. Glenn Smith on September 4, 1941 in Wichita.
Madge worked and retired from Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, after many years of service. She was a member of Riverside Christian Church, Eastern Star, Friends of the Library, and Cherished Doll Club. She loved to travel and was an avid reader of books. Madge enjoyed doll collecting and was a soft doll artist as well as a quilter.
Survivors include her daughter, Kay Smith Church; granddaughter, Kelley Bontempo and her husband, Frank; grandson, Chad Church and his wife, Dorthea; four great grandchildren, Devyn Nichole Bontempo, Nicholas Bontempo, Jordyn Nichole Church, and McKenzy Church; and Madge's sister, Helen Clum.
She was preceded in death by her husband and four sisters.
A graveside inurnment service for Madge will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 31st at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Midland Hospice Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS, 66606.
