Mable Jones Knowlton

Mable Taylor Jones Knowlton passed peacefully December 12, 2006 at Brewster Place Health Center from complications related to Alzheimer's disease. Services will be at Grace Episcopal Cathedral Friday, Dec. 15, 2006 at 2P.M., with burial following at Mt. Hope cemetery. Mable will lie in state after 2 P.M. Thursday at Penwell Gable Midtown.

She was born May 15, 1923 in Ranger, TX to Joseph Earl Taylor and Josephine Harrison Taylor. She lived many years in San Antonio, TX where she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She married Scott Dean Jones on Nov. 15, 1942 in Phoenix, AR He died June, 1970. They had two children Patricia Jones Magathan, Topeka, and Sharon Jones Meyer (Mark), Westerville, OH who both survive her. She married Richard F. Knowlton May 10, 1974. She is survived by his children Dick Knowlton (Shaaron) and Connee Knowlton Ridgeway (Steve), Topeka, and Kelly Knowlton, Tulsa, OK. Richard died Nov., 1980. She was also preceded in death by her long-time companion Vernon D.Wiley who died Dec., 2004.

Mable worked at the Menninger Foundation from 1960 to 1986 when she retired. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Cathedral, the American Legion, and Menninger Hilltoppers.
She is survived by sisters JoAnn Taylor Eggleston, Little Rock, AK, Marion Taylor Rowe, and a brother Thomas E. Taylor, San Antonio, TX., her grandchildren Jennifer Magathan Sanders (Tom), Gainesville, Ga., Matt Meyer, Jeff Meyer, and Merry Meyer Sroufe (Andy), Westerville, Oh., Kristi Knowlton Berroth (Jerry), Kraig Knowlton (Laurie), Randy Ridgeway, Becky Ridgeway, and Heather Knowlton, Topeka, and Will Knowlton, and Natalie Knowlton, Tulsa, OK, and 15 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Brewster Place Foundation, Grace Episcopal Cathedral, and Alzheimer's Association.
