M, Florine Adamson

M. Florine "Flo" (Israel) Adamson, 84, Topeka, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2008 at Rolling Hills Health Center.

She was born May 3, 1923 near Overbrook, the daughter of John Wesley and Myrtle (Atchison) Israel. She was one of seven brothers and sisters and was reared on various farms in the Overbook community. Flo graduated from Overbrook Rural High School in 1941. That same year she married Dean Allen Adamson in Ottawa. They moved to Topeka and were married 57 years. During World War II and the Korean Conflict, she joined her husband at his various duty stations in Asbury Park, NJ, Pensacola, FL, Tampa, FL, Bradenton Beach, FL, Clovis, NM, Biloxi, MS and San Antonio, TX. She returned to wait in Topeka when he deployed to Guam Island toward the end of World War II.

Flo was a wonderful homemaker and worked as a Secretary for the Kansas Funeral Directors Association. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, working in her yard, and gathering throughout her life with her friends and family to include many closely-knit cousins.

She was a member of Potwin Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include sons, Robert Neal Adamson (Kay), Topeka, Timothy Allen Adamson, Topeka; daughter, Debra Ann (Adamson) Coniglio, Fort Myers, FL; sister, Leah (Israel) Eichman Miller, Topeka; brother, Russell Earl Israel, Overbrook; brother-in-law, William Adamson, Lenexa; sister-in-law, Margaret (Adamson) Dick, Lenexa; grandchildren, Aimee Katherine Adamson, Greenwich Village, NY, Russell Dean Adamson, Topeka, Canaan Crouch, Los Angeles, CA, Erin Adamson, Lawrence, Skyler Adamson, Lawrence; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Pessoni, Lawrence; great grandson, Seimoah Adamson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean in 1998; grandson, Robert Wayne "Robbie" Adamson in 1976; brothers, Charles Wesley Israel, Chester Dean Israel; sister, Eula (Israel) Tarr; brother-in-law, Homer Adamson; and sister-in-laws; Marceline (Turner) Adamson and Genevieve (Nutt) Adamson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Flo will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Monday and visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
