Mildred Imogene Jean Duree Jean Duree passed away March 23, 2017, at Presbyterian Manor of Topeka.
She was born June 1, 1922 in Dyer, Arkansas, the daughter of Orel H. Rhodes and Elizabeth James Rhodes.
She was a graduate of Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1947. She was a member of the Cadet Nursing Program during World War II and continued her nursing career, retiring from the VA Hospital in Topeka in 1985, after 20 years of service.
She was married to Edlin K. Harbour; he died during World War II three months later. She married Douglas T. Ferraro in 1947; they were divorced. She married Gerald G. Duree in 1968; he passed away July 13, 2008. She was also predeceased by step-son, Gerald W. Duree and step-daughter, Helen Duree. She is survived by her son, D. Thomas Ferraro (Pam); and daughters, Tish Smith (Richard), and Velda Duree; nine grandchildren and their children.
Visitation will be at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3601 SW 17th Street, Topeka, at 9:30 am, Saturday, April 1st, during which time a rosary will be prayed. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am. Graveside services will follow at Mission Cemetery, 29th & Urish Rd, Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Good Samaritan Fund at Presbyterian Manor, 4712 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66606; or Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1800 SW Stone Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604.
