Lynn E. Marquart, 89, of Topeka, passed away, Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Manor Care Nursing Center.
Lynn was born in Dubuque, Iowa July 29, 1916 the son of George and Ina Mae Marquart. He graduated from Dubuque High School and Dubuque University. Mr. Marquart served in the U.S. Amy Air Corps in England and Africa during World War II. After the war Mr. Marquart received advanced degrees in music and performance from Julliard School of Music and Columbia University in New York City. He moved to Muncie, Indiana where he taught music at Ball State Teachers College prior to moving to Topeka in 1952 where he purchased Green's Music store and operated it as Marquart Music until his retirement.
He was a longtime member of Marshall's Civic Band, Topeka Symphony and the Arab Shrine. Lynn loved boating and water sports and was a member of the Shawnee Boat and Ski Club for many years.
He was married to Jane Zillig who preceded him in death. He is survived by two daughters, Leigh Holt, New Baden, IL; Georgia E. Sirridge and her husband Tom, Tecumseh, KS; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
