Lynn W Davis passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 after a short illness from cancer. He was born February 26, 1935 in Topeka, KS the son of Lynn & Sophia Davis. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1953. After graduation, he attended Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, KS for two years. He was also a member of the Army Reserves taking his training at Ft Leonard Wood, MO. Lynn worked for the Division of Printing as a pressman where he retired after 36 years.
He married Imogene L Williams on March 23, 1958 in Topeka, KS and they enjoyed 58 years of married life. They were avid Kansas State football fans enjoying many years of season tickets and traveling to annual bowl games. Following retirement, Lynn and Imogene enjoyed extensive traveling and had visited many states, including driving to Alaska twice. They especially enjoyed visiting the National Parks and attending the Oldsmobile National Meets. He was a member of the Oldsmobile Club of America since 1972 and had been to every national meet except in 2016. In 1970 he purchased a new 1970 Oldsmobile Nugget Gold Toronado GT which was his pride & joy. Keeping it in pristine condition and showing it at the Oldsmobile National Meets, he earned many prestigious awards. His car will be proudly displayed in the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum in Lansing, Michigan. Lynn also enjoyed drag racing in his younger years with his Oldsmobile cars.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Nora L. Teague of Troy, MO, four nieces whom he adored, Janice Smith of Springfield, MO, Connie (Alan) Street of Mexico, MO, Brenda (Joe) Akers of Eolia, MO, and Sandra (Chris) Brune of Eolia, MO. Also great nieces Mendy (Dustin) Medlam & family of Springfield, MO, Taylor & Madison Akers, Emily (Nick) Holbert of Jonesburg, MO, and Olivia and Madelyn Brune. Also surviving is special friend and neighbor Patty Corcoran and many other friends and neighbors.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Imogene Davis, parents Lynn & Sophia Davis, and brother-in-laws George Williams and Joe Teague.
Per his wishes, his body was cremated. Lynn's family will greet friends and relatives from 9:00am-10:00am on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, Kansas. A graveside service will follow at 10:30am at Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka. Memorials are requested to the Topeka Shawnee County Library, 1515 SW 10th St, Topeka, KS 66604.
