Luther E. Miller, 96, Topeka died Monday, May 30, 2005 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. He was born May 23, 1909 in Winslow, Arkansas, the son of John W. and Sara E. Terry Miller.
Luther worked as a barber in Chester, Arkansas and Topeka, Kansas for 60 years, retiring in 1989. He was a lifetime master shooter, specializing in handguns. He shot competitively for over 25 years. He was a member of the Capital City Gun Club for 35 years, where he held offices of Range Officer and Vice President. He was a former member of the Topeka Camera Club. He worked as a photographer for 6 years, photographing weddings.
Luther was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane S. Miller and three sisters, Della Miller, Fairy Tomlinson and Lila Anderson.
He married Jean B. Berwick, December of 2001 in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Joyce F. Barker, and a son Harold L. Miller, both of Winslow Arkansas; four grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 2, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Miller will lie in state from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
