Lula J. Sharp, 97, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on October 5, 1912 in Scandia, KS, the daughter of Glen Wilson and Amy Sarah Nichols Roath.
She graduated from Maple Hill High School in 1931 and attended Strickler's Business College in Topeka. She retired from the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center after 32 years of civil service employment. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter No. 2.
Lula married James F. Sharp on May 13, 1965 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1982. She was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Survivors include two sisters; Erma Lucas of Freetown, IN, Irene Boyers of Lindsborg, KS, four nephews and three nieces.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Lula will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Good Samaritan Fund at the Topeka Presbyterian Manor, 4712 S.W. 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66606 or to the organization of the donor's choice.
