Lucy J. Eckert, 85, of Ft. Collins, Colorado, formerly of Topeka, passed away Friday, January 5, 2007 at Blue Grouse Health Care Center, Ft, Collins, Colorado.
She was born June 19, 1921 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of James Albert and Carrie Gertrude Palmer Patterson. Lucy was raised in Topeka. She was a 1938 graduate of Washburn Rural High School and later from Clark's School of Business.
She married David J. Eckert December 25, 1942 at Lowman United Methodist Church, Topeka, where she was a lifetime member. He preceded her in death February 6, 2001. Survivors include one son, James D. Eckert, Banner, WY; one daughter, Rebecca L. Eckert, Ft. Collins, CO; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 12, 2007 at the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Eckert will lie in state after 12:00 noon Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Lowman United Methodist Church, 4000 SW Drury Lane, Topeka 66604.
