Lucille Schalansky passed away January 14, 2019 in Topeka, KS.
Amy Lucille Schalansky was born on her parents' farm near Cedar, KS on October 21, 1915 the daughter of Solomon Lewis Sweat and Cora May Abernathey.
Lucille attended Pleasant View Grade School near their family farm. She attended St. John's High School in Beloit, KS and graduated in a class of 12 in 1933. She returned to the family farm and worked there. Lucille married Albert Schalansky on December 30, 1936 in Osborne, KS. She was a member of the Western Bohemian Lodge, the neighborhood Stitch and Chatter Club and Catholic Alter Society of Claudell, KS.
Albert and Lucille farmed for many years in rural Smith County Kansas, south of Kensington, KS. Albert and Lucille moved to Topeka in 1980. Lucille was married to Albert for 63 years. Albert preceded her in death in 2000.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Jim Schalansky in 2012; as well as two brothers, Lennie Sweat and Lewis Sweat.
Lucille is survived by her son, Joe (Peggy) Schalansky; daughter-in-law, Janet Schalansky; six grandchildren: Jay (Emily) Schalansky, Jill Schalansky, Julie Schalansky, Amy (Bill) McLellan, Megan (Phil) Walter, Jenna (TJ) Attwood; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A parish rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5973 SW 25th Street, Topeka, KS 66614. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Bohemian Cemetery in Smith County, KS. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.
