Lucile Elizabeth "Lucy" Hoyer, 93, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2010.
Lucy was born December 21, 1916 in Alma, Missouri, the daughter of Otto and Katherine (Gehner) Horstman. She graduated from Topeka High School and Stormont School of Nursing before receiving a nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison..
She was employed by the Topeka/Shawnee County Health Department and later with USD-501 school district as a school nurse, retiring in 1982.
Lucy married Henning Larson on August 16, 1943.. He died in 1951. She married Norbert Hoyer on March 25, 1978. He died in 1981. Survivors include daughters, Barbara (Dave) Marden, Lawrence, Judy Larson, Albuquerque, NM, grandchildren Matthew (Petra) Marden, Prague, Czech Republic, and Kate Marden, Washington, D.C. and sister, Connie Taylor, Grass Valley, CA. She was preceded in death by sisters Luella Hoyer and Helen Buettner.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Lucy will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Monday and visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
