Lucile L. Bennett, 96, of Topeka, passed away, Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at Midland Hospice House, Topeka.
She was born November 23, 1908 in Topeka, the daughter of Roy P. and Maude E. Fagan Steves.
Mrs. Bennett was a lifelong Topeka resident. She was a 1926 graduate of Topeka High School and had attended Washburn University where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Social Sorority. Lucile served as president of her sophomore class at Washburn University. Mrs. Bennett was also a member of First United Methodist Church, Shawnee Country Club, and Chapter FI of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Lucile married Mark L. Bennett, Sr. January 16, 1932 in Topeka. He preceded her in death December 21, 1987. Survivors include two sons, Mark Bennett, Jr., Topeka; Stephen Bennett, Swannanoa, NC; one daughter, Cicely Glaze, Topeka; 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her dear friend at Aldersgate Village Evelyn Lohrer.
Cremation is planned. At Mrs. Bennetts request no services will be held. Private inurnment will be at Mt. Hope Mausoleum.
