Loyd V. Kimble, 84, Joplin, MO, formerly of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2006 at a Joplin hospital.
Loyd was born April 6, 1921 in Topeka, the son of Dell V. and Lucy Maude Miller Kimble.
He was employed by Duffins Optical for 44 years, retiring as foreman in the lens surfacing department.
Loyd was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Trinity Baptist Church in Topeka where he was Sunday school director for many years.
Loyd married Gloria Keeling on July 27, 1942. They later divorced. Loyd married Mildred Maxine Lowe Benedict on December 11, 1954. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Loyd V. Kimble Jr., Topeka; daughters, Karolyn Stigler, Waterloo, Iowa and Kay Kimble, Iowa City, Iowa; step-daughter, Betty Robbins, Joplin, Missouri; 16 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 7 step-great grandchildren; a step-great great grandson; 2 nieces and 1 nephew. He was preceded in death by a half-brother, Chester Kraus; sons, Bill Kimble and Mike Kimble; step-son, Bill Benedict; and step-grandson, Mike Fox.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Kimble will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
