Lowell R. "Boop" Landis, 73, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2007.
Lowell was born October 15, 1933 in Topeka at home, the son of Raymond and Lola (Banta) Landis. He attended Topeka schools and graduated from Topeka High School.
He worked for the Shawnee County Sheriff's office and later for the Topeka Police Department where he was one of their first plain clothes detectives. He later became a bail bondsman and owned a number of other private businesses.
He was a member of the Arab Shrine, Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge and Central Avenue Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Kessler; sons, Tim Landis and Ben Landis, all of Topeka; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and sisters, Marcheta Abels, Overland Park, and Doris Baker, Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dan Landis and a daughter, Sarah Landis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2007 at Town & Country Christian Church, 4925 SW 29th, Topeka. Lowell will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
