Louise Yocum

Louise M. Yocum, 86, a lifelong resident of Topeka, KS, passed away Mon., Aug. 18, 2008, at Midland Hospice House.

Louise was born April 25, 1922, the daughter of Maud and George Rogers. She was adopted by James and Dora Henderson after the death of her father in 1926.

She was married on Feb. 27, 1948, to Earl H. Yocum. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1979.

Louise found much joy in her life with helping others. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting and her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

Mrs. Yocum is survived by three children, Penny (Ron) Quick, Lois (Ron) Bozarth and Benny Yocum; one brother, Howard Rogers, K.C., KS; four grandchildren, Robin Truhe, Patrick (Stephanie) Truhe, Scott Tice, and Marla Tice; four step-grandchildren: Ron Bozarth, Jr., Michelle Baldwin, Scott (Poo) Quick, Wendy (Lance) McCord and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Roberta (Rogers) Corkill. She had six half sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thurs., Aug. 21 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Interment will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mrs. Yocum will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice House, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka 66606.
