Louise G. Jefferson, 88, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2016.
She was born February 20, 1927, in Chicago, IL, to Harvey and Louise (Welch) Shannon. Louise attended Manuel Training High School in Denver, CO. She married Isaac Jefferson on April 4, 1964, in Atchison, KS. She was a member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. She retired after 20 years as a volunteer with the Foster Grandparent Program of Northeast Kansas.
Louise is survived by six children, Durrell Johnson, Robert Woods, James Woods, Barbara Wells, Rick Woods, and Debra Wilson, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband; parents; three children, Ronald Jordan, Patricia Richardson, and Thelma Drayton.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2015, at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 610 SE Lime Street, Topeka, KS 66607. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave. Topeka, KS.
