Louis "Doc" Ramsey, 85, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2004 at Midland Hospice House.
He was born September 30, 1919 in Belvue, KS. the son of Charles H. and Olive Lippencott Ramsey.
He graduated from Westmoreland High School in Westmoreland, KS. He also attended Strickler's Business College in Topeka.
"Doc" spent forty four months in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Capitol Post No. 1 for sixty years and a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 555.
He worked in the banking business, starting at Central National Bank in 1941 as a teller, going to the National Bank of Topeka when the banks consolidated in 1957. He retired in September of 1984 from First National Bank.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and camping. Following his retirement, he spent many winters in Sun City, Arizona.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia Morrisey.
He married Jean Kietzman on September 25, 1951 in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Nancy Buchanan of Los Angeles, CA, an uncle, Vincent Huey, Junction CIty, KS:four grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 nieces, 4 nephews, 13 great nieces and nephews and 4 step great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Mr. Ramsey will lie in state after 12:00 pm Sunday, November 7, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m..
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday November 8, 2004 at the Mt. Hope Chapel, with burial to follow.
