Lorrene Helen Mann, 91, of Topeka, died September 21, 2010 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha. She had dementia for many years and had suffered with failing health in recent months. She was born December 10, 1918 on the family farm near Stanton, Iowa, the daughter of Camel and Hilma Van Hecke.
On June 2, 1945, Lorrene was united in marriage to John E. Mann, Jr. Most of their married years were spent in Topeka until John's death on January 30, 1996. Lorrene ran a day care in her home most of her adult life in Topeka. Survivors include her son, Gary L. Mann and his wife, Thelma of Topeka; and two grandsons, Jeffrey M. Mann of Lenexa, and Eric M. Mann of Manhattan. Lorrene was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Deidre Candace Mann; two sisters, Margaret Viola Lillie and Frances Dorothy Richards; and two brothers, Russell Raymond Hecke and Harold Leroy Hecke.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at First Baptist Church. Cremation has taken place and private inurnment will take place at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday evening, September 24, 1010.
