Lorraine M. Long, 85 of Topeka, died on Tuesday, August 11, 2015.
Lorraine was born on May 20, 1930 in Manhattan, KS to Thomas and Lida (Sees) Fraker. She graduated from Manhattan High School and from Washburn University.
She spent many years as an elementary school teacher for several schools in the Topeka area. Her greatest joy was being a homemaker and raising her children. She was a longtime member of Community Church in Topeka.
She was an accomplished musician and vocalist. She played the piano starting at age 5 and played by ear. She also played the saxophone and accordion,performed numerous times growing up, including for the military at Fort Riley during World War 2.
Lorraine married Tom Long on August 8, 1975 in Topeka; he preceded her in death on August 10, 2014.
Survivors include children, Claire Long, Westminster, CO; Craig (Belinda) Wasson, Topeka and Marne (Todd) Fischer, Topeka; three grandchildren, Caleb Wasson, Caren (Brian) Gottstein and Emily Fischer and three sisters-in-law, Ruth Long, Judy Long, and Mary Ellen Vausbinder.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd (Pat) Fraker.
A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Sunset Cemetery, Manhattan, KS.
