Loretta J. Vogel, 85, of Topeka, passed away on February 4, 2017 at her home.
She was born June 19, 1931 in Perry, Kansas the daughter of Olen and Letha (May) Hurd.
She was a graduate of Perry Rural High School and The Clark School of Business in Topeka.
She worked as secretary to the president of National Reserve Life Insurance Company and then with Keane & Bradley Architectural Design Partnership in Topeka before retiring from the general offices of Kansas Power & Light Co. in 1995.
She married Thurman F. Vogel on June 26, 1954 at the Perry United Methodist Church. He died in 1980.
Survivors include a daughter, Christie (Phil) Seetin, Dallas, TX and a son, Steven Vogel of Topeka and Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her brother LeRoy Hurd of Perry.
Loretta was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and homemaker. The quiet determination she demonstrated throughout her life was inspirational to all who knew her especially her physicians and care giving staff of the last many years.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Perry. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
