Loretta May (Harvey) (Lloyd) Spencer, 76, of Basehor, passed away Friday, February 7, 2020 in Cleveland, Ohio, due to complications following heart surgery.
She was born July 17, 1943 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Waldo Roy and Frances Louise (Cochran) Harvey. She was a 1961 graduate of Highland Park High School, Topeka.
Loretta was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone for over 30 years, retiring in 1991. More than an employee, she embraced the people around her and converted them to family. She enjoyed traveling, experiencing new places and loving her family with ferocity. She also enjoyed and excelled in needlework.
She was a member of Seward Avenue Baptist Church in Topeka.
Loretta married Phillip James Lloyd in 1966 in Topeka. They later divorced. She married Harry W. Spencer on June 16, 1977 in Topeka. He survives in Basehor, KS. Other survivors include three children, Becky (Tim) Hegler of Kingman, KS, Tracey (Michael) Stratton of Topeka and Justin (Melissa) Lloyd of Gardner, KS; 13 grandchildren, Jake, Ben, Joseph, Avery, Jayson, Kathlynn, Giulianna, Dietrich, Elizabeth, Dominic, Jack, Emma and Owen; her sister, Judy (Duane) Nightingale of Topeka; and two brothers, Robert Harvey of Hollister, MO and Steven Harvey of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Leanna Roudybush; brother-in-law, Daryl Roudybush; and her daughter, Trisha Guerrera.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
