Loretta J. Schwanke, 89, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Midland Hospice House.
She was born July 25, 1922 in Topeka, KS the daughter of John Franklin and Ida May (Bundy) Koci. She was a graduate of Auburn High School.
Loretta married Roger C. Schwanke on April 5, 1942. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1986. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Charles Miles) Pheasant; a granddaughter, Melissa (Steven) Peterson; three great-grandchildren, Emily, Bethany, and Isaac Peterson; and a brother, Jerry Koci, all of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Almira Stark; and two brothers, Lawrence and Paul Koci.
A funeral ceremony will be 11 am, Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Loretta will lie in state after 3 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-7pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care of Kansas, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
