Loren Herbert Hohman Sr., 94, Topeka, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Midland Hospice. He was born on May 17, 1918 in Clay Center, Kansas to Christopher and Myrtle (Mayer) Hohman.
Loren was a U.S. Army veteran and later retired from the Army Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving seven years of active duty, including WWII. He was a local businessman in Topeka for over 20 years and later became a successful real estate entrepreneur in Honolulu, HI. He was a member of First Congregational Church, Philip Billiard V.F.W. Post No. 1650, American Legion Post No. 58, Arab Shrine Temple, Topeka Masonic Lodge No. 17 and Scottish Rite.
Loren is survived by his two sons, Loren (Reah) Hohman, Jr. of Chicago, IL and Steven (Mary) Hohman of Topeka; four grandchildren, Christina Hohman, Cathy Hohman, Audrey Hohman Miller and Loren Hohman, III and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Lou (Schurr) Hohman and one brother, Gerald Hohman.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 9 am on Monday, July 23 at the Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel. Mr. Hohman will lie in state from 12 noon until 4 pm on Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Philip Billiard V.F.W.
