Loren B. Buckles, 92, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at McCrite Plaza.
Loren was born on May 10, 1920 in Olathe, Kansas to Johnson T. and Bertha Buckles. Loren married Wanda Klingler on January 19, 1951 in Overland Park, KS; he passed away only two days before their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Loren was a veteran of World War II and served in the United States Navy during the Asiatic Pacific theatre. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church and he retired from Santa Fe railroad after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda J. Buckles of Topeka; son, Larry (Cheryl) Buckles of Topeka; grandson, Justin (Jessica) Buckles of Hays; and granddaughter, Rachel Buckles of Topeka.He was preceded in death by his parents, and by two brothers, Arthur and Leroy Buckles.
Memorial services will be on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 10th and Lane. Inurnment will follow in the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 20 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions have been designated to the First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Blvd., Topeka, KS 66603.
