Loren L. Beck

Loren L. Beck, 85, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017.
He was born September 27, 1932 near Leonardville, KS. the son of Ervin and Myrtle Beck.
Loren was a 1950 graduate of Leonardville High School and joined the U.S. Navy after graduation.
He was employed by American Linen Service, Barker Printing and the Laundry Chute. Loren was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church where he was a deacon, took money for the Awana meals and counted the Sunday tithes.
Loren loved KSU sports, played and umpired softball and attended the College World Series for many years. He also enjoyed snow skiing, bowling, playing cards, traveling, planting flowers and gardening. He had over one hundred tomatoes this year. Lana called him King Tomato Man and he would really smile.
Loren married Betty Jo Walthall who preceded him in death in 2000. He was also preceded in death by his son Todd, his parents, his brother Leon and sister Connie.
He later married Lana Hicks who survives of the home. Others survivors include his sister Dolores, daughters Cristy Reichert (Scott) and Jamie Stephens (Doug) and his daughter in law, Natalee Beck. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, step children, step grandchildren as well as one great granddaughter and his mother in law.
Mr. Beck will lie in state from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, December 3 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW. 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 4 at First Southern Baptist Church, 1912 S.W. Gage Blvd, Topeka, where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 S.W. 6th Ave., Topeka.
