Loren A. "Al" Lewis, 94 of Topeka, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Midland Hospice House.
He was born February 13, 1922 at Winfield, KS, the son of Walter and Nell (Tate) Lewis.
Al graduated from the University of Washington in 1942 and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the Quartermaster Corp running convoys on the Burma Road. In 1947 he went to work for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring as an Account Executive in 1981.
He enjoyed fishing but his main passion was golf. Every winter he and his wife traveled to play golf in the southern US.
Al married Alyce Walker on October 22, 1944 in Cheyenne, WY. She survives.
Other survivors include daughters Pamela Ulibarri of Jamesport, MO, Peggy Bryan (Dale) of Topeka and Patricia Mathews (Russell) of Lecompton; grandsons Brian, Daniel and Daryl Aeschliman and Jeffrey Ulibarri and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jimmy Ulibarri and a sister Jeanne Wilkins.
In keeping with his wishes, Al was cremated and no services are planned.
