Lonnie Hardie, 57, Topeka, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2004, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
Lonnie was employed as a Chef. In 1983, Lonnie and his wife Linda, were involved in an auto accident that left both of them seriously injured. The result of the accident was they were hit by a drunk driver that left Lonnie disabled.
He was born January 12, 1947, in Joplin, Missouri, the son of Earnest and Virginia Hardie. His father preceded him in death.
Lonnie married Patricia Sovoda in 1972. They divorced. They had one son that died after birth. He later married Linda Wittenbach in 1974. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Leonardo Hardie of Topeka and 2 Grandchildren of Topeka. He is also survived by his mother Virginia Morkenberg of Omaha, Nebraska; one sister, Mona Lisa Higgins, Lake Wales, Florida and one brother Dennis Higgins of Wright City, Missouri.
A funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Mr. Hardie will lie in state after 1:00 p.m., Tuesday with a visitation from 7-8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Cremation will follow the funeral service.
