Lolarene Bliss

Lolarene (Tiny) Bliss, 85, Topeka, passed away on Thurs., April 3, 2008 at Aldersgate Village.

She was born in Topeka, KS on Oct. 20, 1922, the daughter of Claude Emmett and Gertrude Fern (Anderson) Williams.

She attended school in Topeka before marrying Stanley W. Monroe, Jr. on Oct. 25, 1942. They had two children, Sharon Kay (Monroe) Chesmore and Michael Stanley Monroe.

Lolarene and Stan's travels during his 20 year military career took them to Japan; all across the United States and Canada. Stan preceded Lolarene in death on March 15, 1963.

Lolarene returned to Topeka where she married Bernard Lyle Bliss on Feb. 12, 1967.

She was an excellent seamstress, embroiderer, crotchetier and knitter, who created unique designs for family members and dolls. She had a loving spirit and outgoing personality that was enjoyed by all.

Upon Lyle's retirement from Goodyear they enjoyed numerous camping and fishing trips across the United States and Canada. Lyle preceded her in death on June 29, 2005.

Lolarene is survived by her daughter, Sharon and husband, David "Chester" Chesmore, son, Michael and wife, Lorraine Monroe; four grandchildren: Debra Edgcomb, Lora Fisher, Tina Murray, Maria Monroe; seven great grandchildren; sister, Marvalou Traxler and sister in law, Ruth Main.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Darold Main.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sat., April 19, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.

Cremation is planned. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.
