Lois Jean Stratton Spring
December 12, 1935 — February 7, 2018
Lois Jean Stratton Spring, 82, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Stormont Vail Hospital.
She was born December 12, 1935 in Osage City, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas and Hazel Mae (Johnson) Stratton. She was a graduate of Topeka High School and attended Washburn University where she was a member of Kappa Theta Alpha sorority. Lois was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and previously of Central Congregational Church.
Lois married Raymond Lewis Spring on December 18, 1955 in Topeka, KS. He preceded her in death on March 24, 2001.
Survivors include Stephanie (Henry Cox), Shawnee, Sheila (Derrick) Polter, Topeka, Lewis (Mona Gleason), Topeka, Susan (Gregg) Schiffelbein, Baldwin City and Janni (Adam) Willson, Topeka; 8 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Wayne (Jan) Stratton, Topeka as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lois was an active volunteer in many community organizations including Girl Scouts, PEO, Nautilus, Washburn Law School Faculty wives, Gourmet club, Precinct committee woman, and the College Hill Association. She enjoyed her cat, Schroeder, along with many hobbies such as playing bridge, cooking, traveling, reading, arts and culture, and spending time with friends and family.
Honoring her request, Lois was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2018 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1275 S.W. Boswell Ave., Topeka. Private inurnment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Washburn School of Law, Raymond L. and Lois Spring Scholarship.
