Lois Ogle

Lois Eileen Ogle, 71, Topeka, Kansas, passed away January 13, 2007. Lois was born on June 29, 1935 in Erie, Kansas, to Joe Lowe and Martha Lowe Collison. She moved to Chanute, Kansas in 1949 and graduated from Chanute High School in 1953. After moving to Topeka, Lois married John Ogle on October 16, 1954. John passed away on March 3, 2002. Together with their son, Bill, Lois and John owned and operated Central OK Printing, Inc. for 33 years. Lois served as the bookkeeper, secretary, and treasurer of the company. She also set type and worked in the bindery.

Lois enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her family and friends. She embraced life with much exuberance and tenacity. She enjoyed sewing, playing games and many outdoor activities including gardening and boating and skiing with her family. An annual family vacation to Table Rock Lake was among Lois and John's many investments in their family.

She was a devoted mother, giving her time and energy to benefit Bill and Susan. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and avid fan at many sporting events and recitals. She always attended activities where Bill and Susan were involved.

Later in life, still on the go, she enjoyed Jazzercize classes, listening and dancing to music and attending activities involving her grandchildren.

Holidays for Lois were times for all the family to gather and she made those times special with her loving hospitality. She made sure Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas brunch at her house was a special time for all. Her energy, wit and wisdom endeared her to those who were fortunate to know her.

Lois is survived by: her son, Bill Ogle and his wife Kathy of Topeka; her daughter, Susan and her husband Rob Balsters of Topeka; three sisters, Margaret Riddell of Eureka, IL, Minnie (Millie) Hodges and Marge Stevens of Topeka; five grandsons, Michael along with wife Rachel and son Richard, and Martin and Daniel Ogle, John and Ryan Balsters; four step-grandchildren, Stephanie, Michael and daughter Annika, Alissa and Jeff Ross. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother, Wayne, and a sister, Marie.
