Lois Jean Lykins, 95, of Topeka, passed away Monday, August 7, 2023.
She was born April 6, 1928, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Sam and Mary Ellen (McGuire) Levett. She graduated from Topeka High School. After graduation, she attended the Jane C. Stormont School of Nursing and earned her Registered Nurse certificate.
Lois was employed by the Stormont Vail for 17 years and worked as an Emergency Room Nurse. After leaving Stormont Vail, she worked for Washburn University as their Student Health Nurse for 24 years.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, of Topeka.
In her spare time, Lois enjoyed gardening, reading and going boating with her family.
Lois married Jesse Barton Lykins in September 1951. She is survived by her children, Nancy Sherbert and John Lykins; her grandchildren, Christopher Lykins, Nathan Lykins, Tom Lykins and Eric Lykins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Barton Lykins and her parents.
A private family graveside will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society 5720 SW 21st, Topeka, KS 66604.
