Lois Leslie Jones, 76, of Topeka, passed away Monday, May 20, 2024.
She was born May 31, 1947, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Stutz and Mildred (Harvey) Stutz. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1965. After having her 3 children she attended cosmetology school to help in her mother’s shop. Lois and her mom owned and operated a beauty shop together and lovingly took care of their clients.
Lois met the love of her life when she was in kindergarten. She married Verlin L. Jones on August 22, 1969 in Topeka, KS. They had 3 wonderful children that were the joy of their lives. She was a dedicated military wife through out the years of Verlin’s service. They were married for over 54 years before his passing in October 2023.
She was the true matriarch of her family and adored the time she was able to spend with them.
Lois had a passion for making jewelry and learning different crafts in her spare time. She was a hairdresser, a dog groomer, she made and decorated cakes and also made floral decorations for weddings. She had a passion for the Lord and shared that joy with everyone she met. She and Verlin were apart of Calvary Chapel Kaneohe.
She will be remembered as a generous and caring person. Lois loved giving and encouraging people and was always very generous with both time and money.
She leaves behind her children, Sara (Joergen) Laigaard and Brad (Jessica) Jones; four grandchildren, Darcy Hobbs, Lydia Hobbs, Tristan (Kaylea) Hobbs and Maya Bailey and three great grandchildren, Kristian Jones, J.R. Overley and Wesley Watson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Verlin and their daughter, Madeline Ruth Jones as well as her parents.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Verlin at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to our church, Calvary Chapel which is located in Kaneohe on the windward side of Oahu.
