Lloyd Thorington, 77, of Topeka, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 4, 2005 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
He was born on November 1, 1927 in Hutchinson the son of Earl and Silverlene Wheeldon Thorington.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Lloyd attended Salt City Business College in Hutchinson. He had worked in civil service in Kansas and Colorado. He was employed byr the Bureau of Reclamation in Wyoming, Utah and Colorado and had lived in Lawrence for 13 years. Lloyd attended Country Acres Harvest Church and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union No. 226.
He married Esther M. Wilson on July 18, 1949 in Clayton, Mew Mexico. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Ron of Buffalo, NY, Don of Springfield, IL, one daughter, Rhona Thorington Davis of Tulsa, eight grandchildren, two brothers, Vernon Thorington of Hutchinson and Larry Jenkins of Inman and one sister, Emma Holmes of Santa Ana, CA.
Mr. Thorington will not lie in state. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Country Acres Harvest Church. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Country Acres Harvest Church, P.O. Box 8453, Topeka, Ks. 66608.
