Lloyd Pressley Elliott, 91, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011.
He was born November 30, 1919, in Copeland, KS, the son of William Pressley and Bertha Belle (Boyer) Elliott. He grew up in Plains, KS and graduated from high school there. He achieved a BS in Finance from Kansas University, with a minor degree in Journalism, 1941. He was awarded Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 1957. He served in the United States Army during WW II.
Mr. Elliott was a field supervisor with Hussey & Hussey Managing Agency from 1946-1968, becoming Vice President in 1960. In 1968, The Trinity Companies purchased the stock of Hussey &Hussey and became Vice President of Trinity and Kansas Branch Manager in 1972, retiring in 1984. After retirement, he was an Adjunct Professor at Washburn University, a consultant to Kansas Insurance Department and an insurance consultant.
Lloyd was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Topeka, Past President of the Kansas Chapter CPCU, Past President of Kansas Insurance Association, and Past President Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity. He served on the Greensburg, KS, school board and was a Greensburg First United Methodist Church Trustee. Other memberships included Orient Masonic Lodge No. 291 A.F & A.M., Greensburg, and Scottish Rite, Wichita.
On August 2, 1941, Lloyd married Vivian P. Rice in Greensburg, KS. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Linda R. (Harry) Fegley, Denver, CO; and a son, Steven R. (Barbara) Elliott, Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Mae Bell, and two brothers, Leonard Elliott and Eugene Elliott.
Funeral ceremonies will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2011at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Mr. Elliott will lie in state from 5-9 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. A graveside ceremony will be 10 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg, KS.
