Linda Lee (Gurney) Workman, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, peacefully departed this world on October 3, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 69. Born on May 24, 1955, in Wamego, Kansas, daughter of Kenneth Lee and Elizabeth “Ruth” (Dillner) Gurney.
Linda graduated from Seaman High School in 1973 and later Kaw Area Vocational School for Secretarial training. Linda worked multiple office jobs over the years.
Though they later divorced, Linda was married over 40 years to Jared Workman. Through their union, they shared three daughters, Kendra, Rebecca, Michelle and six grandchildren.
Linda took great pride in being a homemaker and military wife. Linda enjoyed traveling while their family was stationed at various US Air Force bases in Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas, Turkey and Ohio before returning to Topeka. Linda volunteered with Girl Scouts, helping numerous scouts build confidence, attain valuable skills and developed lifelong relationships. She enjoyed crafting and creating art with beads, going camping and line dancing when she was younger. Her biggest pride and joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Linda's legacy is carried on by her daughters, Kendra (Daniel) Wayman (Topeka, KS) , Rebecca "Becky" Del Rosario (Columbia, MO), and Michelle Partridge (Berryton, KS). Her spirit will continue to shine through her grandchildren—Branden, Earlene, Payton, Weston, Jasmin, and Logan—who brought her immense joy and laughter. Linda is survived by her siblings: Kay Shepherd, Peggy Gurney, Terry (David Taylor) Gurney, Danny Gurney, and James “Jim” (Christy) Gurney. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Gurney, and her mother, Elizabeth “Ruth" (Dillner) Gurney, whose love and guidance shaped the foundation of her character as well as brother-in-law Dave Shepherd and son-in-law Agapito “JR” Del Rosario Jr.
A visitation will be held in her honor at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home Topeka on October 11, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Friends and family will gather once more for a burial at West Lawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
Linda Lee Workman's life was a testament to the power of kindness and connection. As we bid her farewell, let us cherish the memories filled with laughter, love, and light that she brought into our lives. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all she touched.
