Linda Jean Pape, 57, of Topeka, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 29, 2024, at Midland Hospice House. She was born on August 16, 1967, to Kenneth and Grace (Smith) Taylor at Topeka, KS. She came into this world as a surprise, there was only supposed to be one baby and there were two, twins, what a blessing!
Linda worked as a Medical Claims Review Analyst for BCBS of Kansas for 38 years. She was involved in several of the well fitness programs and committees.
On July 7, 1990 she married Roger Allen Pape. They lived in Topeka, Kansas and on March 6th, 1993 they had a son Brandon Allen Pape he was the joy of their life. After Roger's passing in 1994, she met Raymond Hamersky and they shared the next 27 years together.
They enjoyed their beloved dogs Ginger, Cookie, Roxy, and Ziggy. Ray and Linda spent numerous weekends at the lake camping, boating and riding jet skis. They had a love for hot air balloons, crewing for a family friend. They went to the Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival for many years.
Linda was very crafty, she enjoyed crocheting, made several baby blankets for all the babies in her life, quilting making several T-shirt quilts, regular quilts and table runners for all the holidays. She scrapbooked many of her memories in album books of family and friends. She was an avid runner participating in many half marathons and walks that she could do. Also climbing Pikes Peak two times. She loved doing this with family and friends by her side in many different states.
Linda was a sports fan alway ,supporting her son in basketball and baseball. Many weekends were spent cheering on the KU Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals (went to the World Series twice).
Linda is preceded in death by her husband Roger and her son Brandon. Her parents Kenneth and Grace Taylor, father-in-law Bill Pape, brother-in-law Keith Eubanks, niece Abby Stous and three furry companions Mitzie, Ginger and Cookie.
Linda is survived by her boyfriend Ray Hamersky, Sisters: Brenda (Tony)Keatley, Debora Eubanks, Brother, Paul (Nancy)Taylor, Sister-in-law Linda (Lon) Humpert. Nieces: Tracy (Dan) Corona, Samantha (Jacob) Correll, Shelby (Daniel) Bell, Bailey (Eric) Eisenbarth, and Casey (Jeff) Barker, Laurie (Luke) Henry. Nephews: Eric (Kelly)Taylor, Michael Keatley, Dustin (Kathy) Humpert and many great nieces and nephews and two dogs Ziggy and Roxy.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024, 5:00-7:00 pm and Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 10:30 am. Both will be at the Penwell-Gabel - Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka, Kansas, with Dr. Brody Bliss officiating. Graveside Service will take place on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, following funeral at the West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials are suggested to the Helping Hands Human Society- hhhstopeka.org or Midland Hospice of Topeka Kansas.
