Linda Kay Auten, 64, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009, surrounded by her family.
She was born August 24, 1945 in Netawaka, KS, the daughter of Harry and Louise (Stunkel) Gerhardt. She was a 1963 graduate of Netawaka High School.
She was a private child care provider in Topeka and later was employed by the Holiday Inn Hotel in Topeka.
Linda married Russell Auten, they were divorced. Survivors include two sons, Shawn Auten (Tina) and Corey Auten all of Topeka; three sisters, Lois Gerhardt of Topeka, Thelma Penner (John) of Kokomo, IN and Dorothy Gerhardt of Omaha, NE; a grandson, Alexander Auten. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Raymond, Lyle and Eldon "Joe" Gerhardt.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, KS 66604. Cremation will follow the service. Mrs. Auten will lie in state after 3 p.m., Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Private family inurnment will be at the Netawaka Cemetery.
