Lillian Lowther Dawkins, 86, of Topeka, passed away at home on July 4, 2011. She was born July 21, 1924, in Newton, KS, the daughter of Frank and Ruby Lowther. Lillian was a 1942 graduate of Topeka High School. She started working at age 17 for Santa Fe Railroad, later retiring after 47 years. In 1953, she married Warren "Jack" Dawkins. They later divorced. Lillian was very active in her community and loved to travel. In 2009, she fulfilled her childhood dream of climbing the Great Wall of China. She will be forever remembered in her black VW Beetle.
Survivors include: son, Dudley (Diana) Dawkins; daughter, Diana (David) Iriguchi; grandchildren, Mollie Wik, Osten Wik, Dustin (Jessie) Dawkins; and great granddaughter, Giuliana Dawkins. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lloyd Lowther; and Warren "Jack" Dawkins.
A celebration of life will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604.
