Lillian Janicesoule Jackson

Lillian Janice Soule "Danny" Jackson, 100, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at her home surrounded by loved ones.

She was born January 26, 1911 in Dodge City, KS, the daughter of Arthur Louis and Emily Frances (Madison) Soule. She married Clarke M. Jackson at her parent's home in Topeka. He preceded her in death in December of 1991. Danny is survived by many dear friends of all ages as was evident at her recent 100th birthday celebration.

She was a graduate of Washburn Rural High School. She attended the University of Kansas where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Danny enjoyed over 30 trips to Great Britain with her sorority sisters.

While living in Chicago where she resided with her husband for over 40 years, Danny became a fashion model for Chicago advertising agencies. Prior to the advancement and widespread use of photography Danny was featured in illustration form on popular national magazine covers and in advertisements.
While encouraging Clarke in his career as a calligrapher, Danny became quite talented in her own right as a painter and builder of shadow boxes. Aside from her deep affection for her faithful canines, Danny liked to ride with her convertible top down, smoke cigarettes and drink martinis. She loved life, people, a good crossword puzzle, and was an avid reader.

Friends and family members would like to offer a special thank you to all of Danny's wonderful caregivers and to Grace Hospice.

Honoring her request, Mrs. Jackson has been cremated. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family. A tribute to her life well lived will be held at 2pm Wednesday, March 30, at Penwell-Gabel Family Center, 1940 NW Central, Topeka.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Humane Shelter of your choice or to Grace Hospice at 3715 SW 29th, Topeka, KS 66614.
