Lillian Agnes (Japhet) Gibson, 100, of Topeka, passed away Monday, February 15, 2016.
She was born September 30, 1915 in Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Cecyle (Young) Japhet. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1933.
Lillian worked for many years for First National Bank in Topeka as a supervisor in the Loan Department.
Mrs. Gibson was a member of the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ of Topeka since 1941. Lillian was an active member of Beulah Chapter #34 of the Eastern Star and volunteered often at the Santa Fe Hospital and at St. Francis Hospital in the gift shop.
Lillian married William Arthur Gibson, Sr. on January 1, 1935 in Topeka, KS; he preceded her in death on March 6, 1983.
Survivors include her son, William Arthur (Pat) Gibson, Jr. of Topeka, granddaughters, Debbie (Clyde) Varner and Shari (Dayle) Stephens, both of Wichita and Jennifer (John) Fennell of Topeka; great-grandchildren, Jason and David Varner, Damon (Traci) Stephens, Samantha Stephens, all of Wichita and Rachel and Allie Fennell of Topeka and one sister, Connie James of Aurora, CO.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Don Japhet and Avis Williams.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm. on Thursday, February 18 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka.
