Letitia Staebler

Letitia Frost Staebler, 90, lifelong Topekan, passed away, Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. She was born May 23, 1915 in Topeka, the daughter of Russell Edward and Gladys Scott Frost.

Letitia was a graduate of Topeka High School and Washburn University with a BFA degree. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and First Congregational Church, where she served as a Deaconess. Letitia was President of the Mulvane Art Center in 1946. She served as President of the Topeka Junior League from 1953 until 1954. She was the Co-Chairman for the Next-to New Sale by the Junior League in 1955. She was director of the Shawnee Guidance Center in 1956. She was a member of the Mulvane Women's Board where she served as President in 1970. From 1961 to 1971 she was the Interior Decorator for Stormont-Vail Hospital. She served as President on the Stormont-Vail Hospital Auxiliary 1972 to 1973 and chairman of the Stormont-Vail Art Exhibit from 1973 to 1987.

She married George T. Staebler, Jr., July 10, 1940 in Topeka, KS. He died Feb. 1, 1997.

Survivors include a daughter, Letty Evans, Hilton Head, S.C; a son, Tom Staebler, Chicago, IL; a sister, Marsha Manchester, Topeka; cousin, Evelyn Meade, Topeka; two grandsons John Evans and Scott Evans and three great-granddaughters, Jennifer, Kelsey and Morgan.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at Mount Hope Chapel. Inurnment will be in Mount Hope Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Letitia Frost Staebler to the Mulvane Art Museum 17th and Jewell Topeka, Kansas 66621.
