Lester Nierenberg, 70, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
He was born January 13, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of William and Nancy (Hacker) Nierenberg. He graduated from James Madison High School in 1972. Following graduation, he joined the Army during Vietnam.
Lester married Tamara Stockman on January 11, 1986 in Manhattan, Kansas. They have four daughters, Jade, Ariell, Jordan and Sabra. They later divorced.
He loved watching sports, especially when the Raiders, K-State, and Cardinals were playing. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he cherished the time he spent with them. Lester enjoyed playing poker with his friends, reading, listening to classic rock music, and hanging out with his son in law, David. He often would watch WWE wrestling. He was a man with a great sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. He loved to tell stories about his life.
He leaves behind his children, Jade Stockman, Ariell Nierenberg, Jordan (David) Nierenberg and Sabra Nierenberg; his grandchildren, Ayva, Luca, Sage and Alexandra; and one sister, Joann (Mitch) Goldman. He was preceded in death by his parents.
His family will greet friends and relatives from 12:00pm-1:00pm on Monday, January 22, 2024 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, Kansas. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 1:00 pm. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Topeka Cemetery.
