Lester E. Trendel, 96, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2005 at a Topeka care facility. He was born on November 14, 1908 in Vassar, the son of Edward and Rose Clark Trendel. He graduated from Michigan Valley High School in 1927 and Strickland Business College in 1932. He resided in Topeka most of his life. Lester was an accountant for Cable Spinning Equipment Company. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where he served as a past trustee, SCORE from 1973-1983 and served as an election judge. He married Katherine Britton on June 9, 1934 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on August 1, 2002. Survivors include two daughters, Janice Bradbury of Salida, CO, Rebecca Rissen of Indianapolis, IN, two grandsons, Matthew Van Kirk and Derek Rissen, one great grand-son, Andrew VanKirk and one sister, Roseann Trendel Haufler of Montfort, WI. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Valley Brook Cemetery in Overbrook. Mr. Trendel will lie in state after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. Thursday until service time at the church.
