Leslie Law Smith, 91, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away January 14, 2015. Les was born April 12, 1923 to Clarence M. and Norma (Metzger) Smith in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Les attended Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, and then Purdue University Class of 1945 and the University of Cincinnati, graduating with honors in Chemistry and Zoology in 1948. He was a member of the Delta Delta Chapter of Sigma Chi fraternity.
During WWII, Les served in the Army in Germany and Austria with the 86th Black Hawk Artillery Division, and in the Pacific.
Les was a member of the Ohio Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Les is survived by his sister, Audrey Smith McHenry of Oakland, California; nieces, Kathy McHenry and Nancy Zimmerman; great-nieces and a great-nephew; great-great nieces and a great-great nephew.
Les was a kind and loving man who was loved by those around him. He spent the last 5 years of his life at Winter Meadow Home in Topeka and benefitted from the loving care and companionship of that community.
Les was cremated will be buried with his parents and grandparents in Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio, at a later date. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel in Topeka, Kansas is assisting the family.
